In recent years, floods occurred frequently, increasing the significance of water project about flood discharge. Whether high dam or low dam, flood discharge is worth depth studying complex problem in water and gas two-phase flow, many scholars take much time to develop flood approach. The21st century ago, flood discharge study approach focused on the physical model tests, with the development of computer science and technology and the computational fluid dynamics theory in recent years, numerical simulation studies are carried gradually.Firstly, This paper summarized the research studies about water and gas two-phase flow in this stage, discussing the significance of simulation discharge building energy dissipation. On this basis, describing many scholars’ theoretical and numerical simulation research methods, combining of physical model tests, comparing their advantages and disadvantages, analyze the deficiencies and identify complementary approaches. The main work of this paper is as follows:1. Narrating the basic theory of fluid dynamics, Summed up the general expression of the three basic control equation. List several common methods about two-phase flow, comparing several turbulence two-equation model, Summarize the respective applicable occasions. Brief description of turbulent boundary conditions and free surface simulation methods.2. Introducting the water Project overview, the model test cautions, the model designs, installation and test methods. Analysis of reservoir discharge capacity, pressure distribution, water line, the flow pattern, when the positive weir and the side weir discharge together; analysing the discharge flow pattern for when the side weir separately work. Contrast the two test models discharge flow pattern in the same water level, draw on the side weir discharge impact of the positive weir.3. Describes the process used by simulation software, the several core algorithm of CFD software to classify, summarize these types of algorithms adapted to the occasion. Conditions for the physical model inlet and outlet boundaries, parameter calculation to further induction. Summarize Fluent solving process by a simple numerical example.4. Appropriate simplify the actual water conservancy project, created three-dimensional visualization of the model, its meshing with ICEM, choosing reasonable inlet and outlet boundary conditions, using a three-dimensional two-equation model, using geometric format unsteady flow iterative reconstruction ti solve and generate free water surface, the boundary of the complex geometry using unstructured grids for processing, numerical simulation of the full water and gas two-phase flow from the reservoir area to the river downstream, compare structural and unstructural mesh grid accurate and usability. Post-processing software for the calculation results with multi-angle visual analysis, compare the simulation computed results and the measured data in many ways, concluded that the numerical simulation in terms of energy dissipation is feasible.
