With the economic development and the continuous progress of foundation construction technology, structures like high-rise buildings and super high-rise buildings are developing rapidly. These large structures often set some tension piles to provide some uplift capacity.The PHC nodular piles are used in the engineering lately, so there is almost no correlative studie. In order to know the bearing capacity of PHC nodular pile, based on pull-out load test of the PHC nodular pile at the Tianyunyuan C area, the mechanism and influencing factors are studied by field test, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation.At frist, failure modes of the pedestal tension pile and tension piles with uniform cross section are introduced, on this base, the calculation method of the pedestal tension pile and tension piles with uniform cross section are summarized. Subsequently, the curve are obtained by the field test, it shows that the uplift capacity of PHC nodular pile is very high, and can not be calculated by the existing calculation methods.Then, finite element analysis software ADINA was applied to establish the three dimensional calculation models of PHC nodular pile, the feasibility of the three dimensional calculation model is able to be assessed by a comparison with existing methods. At last, the influencing factors of the uplift capacity of PHC nodalur piles are studied by this model, it shows:the uplift capacity of PHC nodular pile is sensitive to the nodalur width and spacing.
