As a way of energy saving, environmental protection, fast and efficient mode of transport, electrified railway has a great effect to our socio-economic development. In recent years, the electrified railway of our country has entered into a period of rapid development At the same time,As a kind of impact load with having a low power factor and a large harmonic content, the effect of electric traction systems to power quality has become larger and larger. So we must take effective measures to solve the problem of reactive and harmonic in the electrified railway.In this paper, we firstly introduce the traction load of electrified railway, and analysis its effects to power quality and AC-DC-and AC-DC-AC locomotive features. On this basis, we make a summary about traction load characteristics. And make an introduction about power quality standards in the electrified railway. Then we provides a theoretical basis to improve power in electric traction systems. After we anlysis the current improvement plan to the problem of the reactive and harmonic in our electrified railway. Considering the characteristics of the electric traction load, we put forward a way of basing SVC and CS-APF Through analysis, we determined the structure of the main circuit of SVC and CS-APF. In this paper we derive an algorithm of single-phase reactive current detection about the current reactive power theory, and describes the overall control strategy of SVC.In order to achieve stable operation of the SVC and CS-APF combined systems, this paper presents a single-phase specific harmonic detection algorithm, only detect the odd harmonics of low times electric traction systems such as the3th,5th,7th,9th,11th,13th,15th,17th,19th. In this paper, we firstly take overall control,and ensure that the DC side capacitance value of each unit and stable settings,then through the local fine-tuning, keep the cell capacitor voltage be balanced, Finally,we give an overall control methods of CS-APFThrough Matlab/Simulink, we build a simulation model to simulation the system of SVC and CS-APF joint compensation.The simulation results show that the method of this paper has good results to the reactive and the harmonic compensation.
