The spreading of flame and smoke is one of the most important factors that caninfluence the development process of building fire, which decides the risk of casualties andproperty losses directly. Therefore, how to effectively control the spreading of flame andsmoke is the basic requirement and key of fire protection. The horizontal and verticalspreading are main two ways of the flame and smoke spreading. Spandrel and horizontalprojection and other measures are usually adopted in the traditional design to limit the firespreading. With the development of new materials, new technology and new processes, firefighting systems of double glazing windows and sandwich are designed developed recently.However, due to the lack of systematic and in-depth investigation, the comprehensiveeffect and optimization design of the fire fighting system is still a problem to solve.The mathematical model and energy spreading model of the window plume issummarized in this article. The heat release rate, mass loss, temperature and other data isobtained by applying the mathematical model. The energy spreading process of windowplume is achieved on the basis of the energy spreading model. The fire hazard of ordinaryand double glazing windows plume are obtained through the identification, analysis,evaluation of the window’s fire risk.The window size, the spandrel height and horizontal projection width, location, formand thickness are investigated by using numerical simulation technology. The resultsindicate that the spreading trail of window fire depends on the ratio of window width andits1/2width’s height. The fire spread can be controlled efficiently when the spandrelheight is0.8m. The wider the horizontal projection is, the closer the horizontal projectionto the top of the spandrel is, the more effective the control of window fire applyingstaircase method is. The fire prevent of double glazing window plume is designed, which isverified.
