Because of the bus priority policy, more and more cities are beginning to set the bus lane and bus signal priority, which have relieved the traffic congestion to some extent. While, the bus networked operation can’t be achieved at the present stage, which leads to the inefficient operation. Actually, the non-urban bus lanes are overcrowding compared to bus lanes, it is a waste of road resources and affect the travel of social vehicles, especially at intersections. In addition, the low level of bus lane utilization limited further development of bus lanes. In order to avoid wasting road resources at intersections and solve the low level of bus lane utilization, this paper has mainly studied the bus lane-based control methods between the traffic in different directions and bus approaches at intersections. By ensuring the bus priority, it can make the bus lanes fully utilized and reduce social vehicle delay largely. Specific contents are as follows:(1)Roadside-sized bus lanes allow right-turn vehicles traveling on the bus lanes while the bus lanes are unused. This section puts forward lane-changing interval concept, and examines the way to set lane-changing interval in the bus lanes, combined with the theoretical analysis. Based on cellular automata theory, the paper analyzes the evolution and lane changing rules of right turn vehicles, MATLAB is the simulation tool used in this paper. The travel times of right-turn vehicles before and after the control method are measured by the simulation.(2)Medium-sized bus approaches allow the High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV) traveling on the bus approaches together with buses to improve the bus approach utilization efficiency. The section analyzes the per-person delay and per-vehicle delay of the high-occupancy vehicles traveling before and after on the bus approaches on the basis of bus approach concepts and setting conditions. There are there cases, firstly no bus approaches, secondly only bus can travel on the bus approaches and thirdly HOV are allowed traveling on bus approaches. Simulated vehicle data from VISSIM is used to estimate delay analysis of the three cases.Through analysis, roadside-sized bus lanes allowing right-turn vehicles traveling can make partial right-turn vehicles in the queue pass the intersections ahead of time, and shorten the travel time of right-turn vehicles. The case that bus approaches allow HOV using can significantly reduce per-vehicle delay compared to no bus approaches and only bus can travel on the bus approaches, but in terms of per-person delay, allowing HOV traveling on the bus approaches is slightly higher than the bus approaches which only allow bus travelling.
