Single cylinder diesel engines have a good power performance, fuel economy,simple structure and low cost which have been wide used in rural areas. With itsincrease of ownership in the market, environmental pollution caused by the soot andnoise is increasingly serious, in addition along with the increasingly stringentenvironmental regulations, noise and pollutant emission limits have become more strict.Therefore the feasible net smoke and noise reduction measures must be adopted forsingle cylinder small diesel engines. So far the exhaust emission of small singlecylinder diesel engine has not received enough attention for a long time, even somesmall single cylinder diesel engine are still not net take any purification measures, andthe installation of muffler have the problem of poor noise elimination effect. So directat the single cylinder small diesel engines to design device with the effect of particlepurification and exhaust silencer which has a very important economic and socialbenefits.This article is financially supported by the Innovation Platform Open Foundationin Higher Educational Institutions of Hunan Province (ID:12K130) and EnterpriseAuthorized Item (The Development of Diesel Engine’s Exhaust Catalytic MufflerSystem). In view of175series agricultural single-cylinder diesel engine which havebeen widely used in our country as the specific research object. Taking the highcapture efficiency and low noise as the starting point, put forward the integrated designtheory of particle capture and noise reduction performance and design and work out aset of new exhaust catalytic muffler device with the advantages of low cost, simplestructure and easy to dismounting.Built the new exhaust catalytic muffler device test bench, investigated the data ofsound pressure, fuel consumption rate and smoke intensity under the loadcharacteristics of the engine in detail. By comparing with the original muffler, the newexhaust catalytic muffler device had a good effect of carbon capture and smokesilencing which on the premise of not increase fuel consumption. At the same timebase on Fluent and LMS software to research the fluid field and acoustic characteristic, then the velocity and pressure contours of flow field are obtained through the way offlow field simulation and the pressure loss is figured out, besides the transmission lossfigures are obtained through the way of acoustic analysis and the transmission lossvalues at each frequency are figured out. And then deeply analyzes the flow field andacoustic characteristics of original muffler and new exhaust catalytic muffler device.Finally, discuss the structure factors that the pore density, axial ratio andlength-diameter impact on the flow field and acoustic characteristics of muffler, as aresult provide theoretical basis for further improvement.
