The monitoring of the power parameters is the premise of power system security, high-quality operation. In traditional power parameter monitoring system, hardware is core. It is bulky, expensive and a fixed function. Compared with the traditional instruments, virtual instrument can be structured flexibly, expandability, save cost and development time. So this paper presents a scheme to develop the program of the power parameter monitoring system with virtual instrument technology.This paper first describes the research status and development trend of the power parameter monitoring techniques; Secondly, in-depth studies the common power parameters analysis methods, analyzes advantages and disadvantages of various parameters analytical methods, taking into account the advantages of digital signal processing for the measurement of the power system and the degree of maturity of the FFT algorithm, FFT algorithm is selected to analyze the power parameters, went on to analyze the problems encountered in the AC sampling process, and to provide solutions for these problems, using windowed and interpolation methods improve the FFT algorithm, enhance the accuracy of the FFT algorithm; Thirdly, designs the power parameter monitoring system based on LabVIEW, uses computer and the data acquisition card of Advantech for data acquisition and transmission on the hardware configuration, in software, uses NI company’s Virtual Instrument Software LabVIEW to achieve data acquisition card drive, builds the functional modules of the power parameter monitoring system, these modules include a user permissions module, various parameter measurement modules, data storage module, report generation module etc, in order to achieve the analysis, process and storage functions on the data collected; Finally, summed up the shortcomings in the system and areas for improvement, makes a prospect for the trend of power parameter monitoring device.This system sets voltage deviation, frequency deviation, harmonics, three-phase unbalanced such as power monitoring parameters as one. The experiments prove, this power parameter monitoring system satisfies the test requirements of power system.
