As indispensable modern device of moving vehicle, ship system and aircraft, battery management system is developing rapidly both at home and abroad. It can complete the real-time monitoring of battery state (voltage, temperature, charge and discharge current and remaining capacity) in system, and estimating battery remaining capacity is one of the main functions of battery management system.In order to accurately predict the remaining capacity, the open-circuit voltage method, ampere-hour method and Peukert equation are combined, and influence factors of remaining capacity such as temperature are considered, the prediction algorithm of remaining capacity based on some methods of measuring battery remaining capacity at present is put forward in this paper. Battery management system can avoid the phenomenon that battery appears overcharge, overdischarge and overheating in charge and discharge process and it can improve battery life and storage capacity by monitoring the state of battery. This system that takes STC89C516microcontroller as the core realized the accurate measurement of battery voltage, current and capacity, combined with capacity measurement algorithm by controlling power quality management chip DS2438and periphery circuit. Under the control of the microcontroller, the temperature of the battery is measured by digital temperature sensor DS18B20. Measuring data is displayed on the panel by LED digital tube and the capacity information in the situation of power drop can be stored in this system., and it communicates with the host computer through RS232serial communication interface and can receive the commands of host.Finally, estimated initial capacity parameters and Peukert equation parameters of the battery in the experiment are determined through the discharge experiment. The experiment results show the battery management system for battery voltage, current and the measurement of capacity is reliable.
