With the improvement of China’s economic development and energy saving requirements, the trend of development of generators toward high power, high parameter has been put on the current schedule of power construction, and the parameters and reliability requirements of auxiliary equipments, high-power, high-parameter, ultra-critical boiler feed pumps, are increasingly high. It is one of the urgent research equipment of localization of high parameters in the current auxiliary equipment. In the process of feed pump design and manufacturing, the axial force prediction of a pump has been always a problem troubled the designers. Previously, used the empirical formula to calculate, but there is a big difference between the calculated value and the actual value, and it can only calculate the axial force at the design conditions. It is one of problems to be solved in the design of pumps.Combined with a company to design and manufacture a supercritical boiler feed pump, use the currently recognized outstanding CFD software ANSYS-CFX to simulate a1000MW ultra-supercritical boiler feed pump at the design speed of variable condition. Obtain the detailed data of internal flow field by using the RNG-k-e turbulence model to continuously calculate the multistage pump. Predict and calculate the axial force of the pump by combining CFD calculation of pressure field with empirical formula. The results show that the axial force changes slowly at low speed, and fluctuates small and has a better balance at designed speed, and changes largely at high speed when the pump operates at variable conditions. The accurate prediction of the axial force has vital significance to the stable operation of the pump and the design of balance devices. The method of calculating axial force by combining CFD simulation with empirical formula can provide some reference and guidance for the hydraulic design of the model and the prediction of the axial force of pumps.
