In recent years, arch bridge develops in the direction of larger span. At the same time, the difficulty and time of construction increase with the increasing of span. So it is very important to choose a reasonable and effective construction method for arch bridge construction. In order to ensure the rationality of the structure during construction, the simulation of construction process is indispensable.This paper not only introduce the traditional installation method of the arch ring in the arch bridge hoisting construction process, but also focus on introducing another kind of installation method which can effectively reduce the construction time. For the untraditional method, the whole bridge arch ring can be divided into two parts:arch ring segments on either side and middle closure segments. The arch ring segment close to the arch foot is poured on oblique tensile supports, and then the system is changed to a state of oblique. The rest of the segments are precast in section. After taking the method of cantilever assembling for every two concrete arch ring segments, the wet-joint are poured. Then concreting construction of closure segments starts after the hoisting of all the arch ring segments. In order to ensure the feasibility of this method, the finite element model of the Long Chang aqueduct project is made to simulate the arch ring construction process. Through the force analysis of cable/arch ring and tower in each construction stage to get the construction control cable force, which can ensure the structural stress and geometry of all parts of the bridge meet the code and design requirements. In order to study this method’s influence on the stress of the bridge structure, the construction process for the traditional installation method of the arch ring is also calculated in this paper. After comparing and analyzing the calculation results of the two methods, it is found that their influence on the arch ring, the piers and the tower has little difference. Yet the method this paper focuses on can effectively shorten the time required for the construction, and can finish the arch ring installation work quickly. Under the premise of accurate cable control, it can provide a reference for the construction control of the same type arch bridges.
