| Wheel-side reducer as an important part of Electric Vehicle drive system, the power loss was a signigicant technology index of the drive system and the wheel-side reducer gear churning loss accounted for larger proportion of transmission system power loss. Gear churning loss was caused by liquid resistance when gear rotated in the oil bath, related experiments showed that the high speed gear churning loss accounted for about half of the total power loss by gear box. At present, the literature about on gear churning loss was less, the related research of scholars at home and abroad also was only studied for a single wheel or disk churning loss. Therefore, there was great significance of researching the gear churning loss and making it applied to wheel-side reducer. This paper mainly studied theoretical research and simulation analysis of the gear churning loss, established a dynamic model of the churning loss, validated by experiment data and make use for wheel-side reducer. The main research works are as follows:Firstly, the research significance of gear churning loss and the research status at home and abroad were reviewed. Research methods of churning loss were introduced, and analyzed the factors of gear churning loss.Secondly, Based on the theoretical mode of domestic and foreign scholars’ research, considered the influence of temperature to the kinematic viscosity of lubricating oil, added the viscosity-temperature factor and established a dynamic model of gear churning loss. Used MATLAB to simulation analysis of dynamic model, validated with experimental data, then get the general conclusion of dynamic model.Thirdly, Based on dynamic grid technology and VOF two-phase flow model, making for flow field analysis on gear churning loss under different rotational speed, obtaining instantaneous dynamic, velocity field and pressure field of gear churning loss. With the improvement of the gear speed, the speed and pressure of lubricating oil were becoming lager.Finally, Make theoretical calculation model of applied to the wheel side reducer in Electric Vehicle, selected parameters, calculate the oiled gear churning loss of wheel-side reducer. Used the simulation analysis to carry out the part of oiled gear by FLUENT, and compared with theoretical value, get the conclusion of error was in the acceptable range.
