This paper mainly studies the influence of the physical interface on the characteristic ofexplosive cook off, the results provide a reference for designing low vulnerable ammunition.Firstly, The amount of heart passing from environment into grain at unit time arecalculated according to the theory of heat transfer when the physical interface which thicknessis1.0~2.0mm between the grain and the casing are GPS-2and T-09respectively. The resultsshow that: The quantity of heat at unit time passing from environment into grain reduced withthe increase of the physical interface thickness when the physical interface are either GPS-2or T-09.Secondly, Experimental research which study the influence of the physical interface on thecharacteristics of slow cook-off is conducted. The results show that: the physical interface hasan important influence on the response characteristics of explosives slow cook-off. Thephysical interface that is air increase the response temperature, the response time and theresponse fierce of the cook-off bomb. The physical interface that is GPS-2and T-09increasethe response temperature, the response time, but reduce the fierce of the cook-off bombresponse.In the theoretical calculations and experimental research, FLUENT software is used forthe first time to study the influence of the physical interface which are GPS-2and T-09on theresponse characteristics of slow cook-off of explosives and the thermal detonation criticaltemperature of explosives. The results show that: The cook-off response temperature and timeincrease with the increase of physical interface thickness within the range from0.5mm to2.5mm. However, roasted combustion temperature and response time decreases with theincrease of physical interface thickness in the range of2.5mm to5mm. The thermal detonatedcritical temperature of explosives is192℃for the cook-off bomb without physical interface.When the thickness of physical interface is2.5mm, the thermal detonated critical temperatureof explosives are191℃regardless of the physical interface between the grain and the shell isGPS-2or T-09.The above research results provide technical reference for the design of low vulnerabilityof warhead.
