Steel silo structure has been widely used in bulk storage, and it has a long history,however, due to the complex and special structural characteristics of thin-walled steelsilo, engineering accidents occurred often in the practical application.It has hundreds of years of history in studying mechanical properties of steel silo,and it mainly concentrated in the bulk lateral pressure in silo, the stability research ofthe ring beam of the transition junction and the stability of the cylindrical thin shell ofsteel silo, etc.Because our country is relative lack of experience in the structure design andresearch of the steel silo, and there are certain gap among domestic steel silo designspecification and other advanced countries and practical application, this paper hassummarized the theory and proceed numerical simulation for the bulk materialpressure distribution of steel silos, the stability of the connection ring beam and thestability of the cylindrical thin wall.For the research of the bulk material pressure, this article first to summarize andprocess the existing theoretical formula of the bulk material pressure calculation, anduse the software of ABAQUS to simulate the working conditions of static storagematerial pressure and dynamics discharging material pressure, then contrast andanalyze the results between the finite element analysis and the theoretical formulacalculation.For the stability study of the transition junction, this article first to summarize therelated theoretical formula of the transition junction, including the circumferentialpressure formula, the maximum circumferential stress formula of the ring beam, theformula of useful cross section, the buckling limit of the ring beam, the plasticstrength limit of the transition junction, etc. Then on the basis of the designedstructural model of this article, buckling analysis by using ANSYS have been carried out, and compared with the results of theoretical formula.For the stability study of the cylindrical thin shell of steel silo, this paper first tosummarize the simple formula of stability theory of the cylindrical thin shell underaxial compression, and then have a stability checking for the thin shell designed inthis paper. Because the bulk material pressure and the initial geometric imperfectionare the most important factor for affecting the stability of cylindrical thin shell, so thisarticle use the ANSYS software to simulate and analyze these two factors respectivelyto explore the influence law.
