Polymer solar cells (PSCs) is a kind of thin-film cells environment friendly.Theycan be prepared with Various Organic materials and producted with low cost.However, compared to the silicon solar cells, the lower efficiency of PSCs is the mainbarrier for commercial. Therefore, improving the efficiency of PSCs has become theresearch focus in recent years.The main reasons of low efficiency of PSCs are the low ability ofoptical absorption and low mobility of excitons and carriers in the active layer. So Agnanostructures are introduced to PSCs to improve the photoelectric properties ofPSCs.Four kinds of different thickness of Ag nanostructures was introduced to PSCs inthree groups of controlled experiments. First, the devices of PSCs were prepared withthe structure of ITO/PTFE/Ag NPs (x=0,1,2,3,4nm)/PCDTBT:PCBM/LiF/Al.Significant improvement in terms of short-circuit current density (Jsc) by33.6%, andpower conversion efficiency(PCE) by40%were achieved compared to deviceswithout Ag nanostructures. Second, the devices of PSCs were prepared withthe structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/AgNPs(x=0,1,2,3,4nm)/PCDTBT:PCBM/LiF/Al.Significant improvement in terms of Jsc by18.6%, and PCE by18.5%were achievedcompared to devices without Ag nanostructures. Finally, the devices of PSCs wereprepared with the structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PCDTBT:PCBM/AgNPs(x=0,1,2,3,4nm)/LiF/Al. Significant improvement in terms of Jsc by20.9%, and PCEby21.1%were achieved compared to devices without Ag nanostructures.Ag nanoparticles can not only scatter light to increase the optical path of light inthe active layer of PSCs, but also excited by light to produce localized surfaceplasmon resonance (LSPR) effect, trapping light to focused on the near-field. TherebyAg nanostructures significantly enhance the light absorption ability and efficiency ofPSCs.
