Piled raft foundation is becoming one of the most ordinary foundation patterns adopted for the high-rise buildings because its large capacity, small settlements, good integrity and full use of the underground space. However, due to the improper survey, design and construction, the actual bearing capacity of piled raft foundation can not always be sufficient to the practical requirement. Thus, the reinforcement treatment must be preferred. This paper studies the vertical ultimate bearing capacity of pile group and the reinforcement scheme of pile foundation based on a reinforcement project in Hangzhou. The main work in the paper as follo wings:(1) Introduce the static load test procedure and results of the test pile of a project in Hangzhou and analyze whether the bearing capacity of bored pile meet the requirement in order to provide the basis for the reinforcement scheme.(2) Describe several methods for statically calculating pile groups’vertical bearing capacity of piled raft foundation in detail and give the concrete application instances of each method in practical projects.(3) Propose the reinforcement scheme of pile foundation and recheck the bearing capacity by various methods.(4) Simulate static load test of single pile by the finite element software ABAQUS and check load-settlement curve obtained from it with measured curve to verify the reliability of ABAQUS.(5) Verify the feasibility of the scheme with3D FEM simulation. The bearing characteristics of original piles and the new piles which belongs to small spacing group piles should be studied.(6) With the comparison of5piles and41piles, the subsidence is smaller that selecting fewer piles to simulate stress characteristics of piled raft foundations.
