This thesis mainly studied the modification for ZnO prepared by sol-gel as electronic transport layer of polymer solar cells. We modified ZnO by using UV treatment and silver nanoparticle. We studied the influence of UV to the device under the different environment. The results show that it can improve the Jsc and photoelectric conversion efficiency of device spinning some silver nanoparticles on the ZnO layer The main results and conclusions in this work are as follows:1. We studied the effect of the UV treatment for ZnO on the performance of the device. Studies shown that UV treatment can reduce the contact angle of water solution on ZnO in atmospheric environment, and the processing time longer, the effect more obvious, however the PCE of device reduced with the increase of UV irradiation time.2. We studied the effect of water and oxygen for reducing the contact angle of water solution on ZnO. The results display that water recovery against the performance of devices treated by UV under the atmospheric environment. We found that oxygen played a major role for reducing the contact angle, though observing the scanning electron microscope.3. In this paper we covered the ZnO layer with40nm Ag nanoparticles, which improved the Jsc and PCE of device by20.2%and17.2%respectively compared with standard device.4. The main reason for the increase of the photocurrent was studied and analyzed, Though comparing the location of the resonance absorption peak of silver nanoparticles and the location of the current increasing in spectral response, we found they both were in the same spectral range, which manifest that the increasing of the Jsc was the result of silver nanoparticles plasmon polariton effect.
