With rapid development of high-speed rail, train operational speed increases greatly. The effect of track irregularity on train operation increases accordingly, and includes:(1) track irregularity will lead to large increase in wheel-rail interactive force, as a result will further arise subgrade structure vibration, which has adverse effect on train operational safety, and(2) track irregularity will decrease passenger riding comfort.The thesis discusses the development of China’s high-speed railway and Wenzhou-fuzhou high-speed rail about cases, introduces the concept, species and adverse effects of track irregularity on train operation, as well as track irregularity detection and evaluation methods. The research conclusions regarding power spectrum analyses of track irregularity are summarized. Track condition measurement data from track geometry car are used to quantitatively analyze track irregularity for Wenzhou-Fuzhou high-speed rail ballast track. Track irregularity over ballast track, bridge, and turnout is investigated to study irregularity characteristics and deterioration rules. Track irregularity power spectrum for these three kinds of substructures are evaluated. Accordingly, the relationship between amplitudes and wavelengths of track irregularity with wavelength between 1m to 100 m are studied.The work presented in the thesis is helpful for understanding of wenzhou-fuzhou high-speed rail ballast track irregularity characteristics. From the perspective of maintenance, the research results has utility for high-speed rail ballast track.
