China’s manufacturing industry is developing in the direction of high speed, efficiency and resource conservation. As the integration of high-speed permanent magnet brushless DC motor, it will gradually expand its scope of application for the reason of low noise, high reliability and long service life. Consequently, it is essential to study the high-speed permanent magnet brushless DC motor.As is known to all, the high-speed permanent magnet brushless DC motor with a ratio of 3, has a number of copper consumption, which is not helpful for the improvement about motor.To solve the problem, a designation of 4-pole 6-slot was completed, which has a lower copper consumption than the former under the same experimental environment. Considering the problem of a high partition of motor loss, a new intelligent optimization algorithm, namely harmony search, was used to research and implement the new design of 4-pole 6-slot high-speed permanent magnet brushless DC motor.The main tasks of this thesis are as follows. Firstly, studying the body design of High speed permanent Magnet brushless DC Motor, as well as design the 4-pole 6-slot of 1.6kW,35000rpm high-speed permanent magnet brushless DC motor model by using Ansoft software. A good performance was proved with the evanescent field of finite element analysis. what’s more, to solve the problem of initial data unevenly distribute in the input field, the strategy of initializing harmony memory is improved based on area division. From the experiment results, The evenness of harmonies which was generated by the improved harmony search algorithm was obvious higher than the basic harmony search algorithm. At last, in order to optimize the iron loss, a improved motor design was proposed, which combined the improved harmonic search algorithm with the motor model design methods, and it did reduce the iron loss.The design about the 4-pole 6-slot high speed permanent magnet brushless DC motor not only met the requirements of efficiency and output power, but also made a good performance on electromagnetic torque, the back EMF waveform, which was in line with exceptions. The improved harmony search algorithm could select data evenly in the input domain. The speed of optimization and the reasonableness about the solutions were improved by adjusting the diversity about harmonies and the precision of solutions with reasonable parameters. From the final results of the experiment, the motor design which was optimized by improved harmony search algorithm could significantly reduce the iron loss of motor, and then improved the efficiency of the motor.
