In recent years, with the implementation of the West Development Program, the state has invested a lot of money and effort for the construction of the western public transport facilities. Because of the complex topography conditions, such as a lot of mountains and hills,it makes the high bridge pier bridge being the main form of the structures,which beyond the applicable scope of domestic and international seismic design. Researchers from all over the world have done a lot of works, and provided a number of practical ways,including the IDA method which is widely recognized to satisfy the needs of high-pier bridge structure design.However,the IDA method has a lot of shortcomings, taking a long time-consuming and operating difficultly,meanwhile,there is no need to fit such a refined analysis for most of the bridges,so it becomes necessary to make the proposed division of the appropriate standard for high pier bridge. In order to get an effective and the reference value theory for specific projects.This dissertation will be divided into elastic and elastic-plastic analysis in two stages. Analysis of this paper consists of the following parts.Firstly, analyzes the differences between high and low bridge pier bridge pier:The contribution of higher modes structural for seismic response. Then, this paper analyzes two aspects of work:elastic stage, elastic-plastic stage.Elastic stage, the mass participation factor is selected as the index to establish the criterion by comparing various effectively indicators modal participation. Through the theoretical analysis of various factors affecting the mass participation factor, it determines the various physical parameters of the model. Further, the formula of the first-order and second-order modal mass participation factor is obtained by the parametric analysis of all influential factors, which allows engineers to quickly assess the vibration mode of participation. At the same time, considering the limitation of assumptions of the mass participation factor (such response spectrum value only reflects the contribution of each order of pier bottom shear). The response spectrum method is used to proofread the above-mentioned criteria for the classification.Elastic-plastic stage, we analyze the domestic and international norms. In this paper, it analyze the two ways compared the IDA method and a modal loading of Pushover method. We propose criteria elastic stage for effective verification and amendment.
