Fracture of high voltage insulators are often easy to cause damage to the equipment and personal injury accidents, seriously affect the safe and stable operation of power grid.This paper mainly through developing glazed electric erosion test, hot and cold temperature cycling test, the mechanical load test, pore test and micro-Analysis of the test failure, extensive experimental studies, leading to has carried on the detailed analysis of internal and external factors that decreased mechanical properties of pillar insulator, analysis of pillar insulator rupture mechanism, then puts forward the main factors affecting mechanical properties of electric porcelain insulator, guidance pillar insulator production, operation, maintenance and provide guidance.
