The primary frequency regulation of the power system is the yital method of the grid frequency stability maintenance. It is the natural ability of the generator speed control system which adjusts the frequency with its fluctuation automatically.It works through the generator speed control system and its performance is determined by the governor control parameters. It receives multiple effects from different parameters of the various tache. Therefore, it is extremely essential to probe into the mechanism and explore the relationship between the primary frequency performance regulation and the parameters of speed control system. This is practically important for optimizing the structure of speed control system and improving the performance of primary frequency.Firstly, starting from the structure of the speed control system, self-defining refined model is built with advantages of several aspects. A new analysis method for researching the performance of speed control system based on predominant pole is proposed. By the comparison between the refined model and the custom model, the advantages are confirmed by the analysis result and theory.Secondly, on the basis of the refined model, another analysis method using the root locus combined with predominant pole is brought out. By this means, the analysis results of the influence mechanism that the linear parameter exerts on the performance of primary frequency regulation can be concluded. The theoretical analysis is verified through the simulation experiment.Thirdly, by establishing a four regional interconnection system model with refined speed control system, the importance of input the frequency regulation function is emphasized and the analysis results of the influence mechanism that the nonlinear parameter exerts on the performance of primary frequency regulation can be concluded.The fourth point, a new method to express the frequency performance metrics with linear control parameters by multivariate fitting method is adopted. Then a group of optimal parameters are obtained through the interior point optimizing method.Finally, a series comparison simulation experiments between refined model and optimal parameters in AC/DC hybrid system are conducted. The results demonstrate the validity of the proposed methods and the improvement of the primary frequency regulation performance under different operation modes.
