Barrage diversion headworks according to the runway rules of water and sediment, by controlling gate control the junction operation actively and flexibly, achieves favorable flood-discharge, sand-washing and water diversion effect. The most of current research on the operation mode of the headworks is physical simulation experiment method, numerical simulation mainly study on the hydraulic response process of water channel gate operation, the typical mathematical model use the Saint Venant equations as channel operation control equations, using four point differential implicit scheme discretization on the equations, the iterative solution of equations adopting chasing method, and analysis the drawdown rate of water level near gate, wave propagation time,flow fluctuation range and influence scope.Few researches of numerical simulation study on headworks intake gate scheduling and operation mode.This paper basis on the physical model test, numerical simulate the gate scheduling and operation mode of headworks in Xinjiang and contrast physical model test results, the main conclusions as follows:(1) the results of k-ε and RNG k-ε calculation model can converge, and the calculated results are in good agreement with the physical test results, it shows that two kinds of calculation model can be used to simulate the gate scheduling and operation mode of the headworks, but consider both the left and right bank water line and time, k-ε calculation model can consumes10%~15% less CPU than RNG k- εcalculation model, and the water line fitting better than RNG k-ε calculation model, so the k-ε calculation model is better than RNG k-ε calculation model.(2) using k-ε calculation model, adopting VOF method to track the free fluid surface, simulate headworks operation mode in different conditions, analysis corresponding inlet, outlet flow, water line and velocity of typical section, the calculation results are in agreement with the physical test results, explaining that 3-D numerical simulation method can make up for physical tests shortcomings of time-consuming and difficult to understand the internal characteristics of the flow field,can be used in similar study on numerical simulation in headworks operation mode(3) according to the runway rules of water, optimize headworks operation mode in different conditions, the results of simulation can reach better flood-discharge and water diversion effect.
