With the improvement of people’s living standards, power reliability requirements are also increasing. In order to satisfy people’s demands for reliability of power supply,we need to find the point of failure in the distribution network failure and processed in time.In this paper, the distribution network to achieve single-phase ground fault location by using zero-phase sequence current method to find the point of failure quickly and accurately. The phase comparison method proposed can get the difference of zero sequence current phase by comparing with the GPS pulse. Then compare the the zero-sequence current phase of adjacent measuring points to determine fault section. The fault location system proposed in this paper is an online fault location system. It can be used for 10 kV overhead lines with neutral point ungrounded. It uses a wireless ad hoc network(Wave mesh module) as the primary communications network and the detecting terminal is sensor. The system consists of the central station and the sensor. The sensor is installed on the line for condition monitoring and sensor mounting density determines the length of the fault section.Sensors can exchange data via wireless ad hoc network module with the central station.Faulty analysis software is installed in central station which can analyze the data and get fault section.A single-phase ground fault location system for distribution network based on the zero-sequence current phase method is designed in this paper. It describes three parts including online power taken,zero-phase sequence current calculations and long-distance wireless transmission. The MCU program is also designed. The hardware and software systems are tested and the results are desirable. Finally, a single-phase ground fault location system for distribution network based on the zero-sequence current phase method is completed.
