In order to know the typical RC frame supported masonry structures seismic collapse mode and obtain the system understanding about the survival space distribution rules in typical RC frame supported masonry structure ruins and the safety problems in the emergency rescue, this paper systematically summarized the damage characteristics of RC frame supported masonry structures and its ruins in recent huge earthquakes. Two different wing wall RC frame supported masonry structures reduced-scale model are designed and made. The earthquake simulation test on the two models is taken on the shaking table. The two finite element analysis models of the two reduced-scale models were established by the ANSYS respectively. The elastic-plastic time history analysis and the simulation of collapse of the two models are researched. This paper compared the test and the numerical simulation results. Based on these results, the survival space distribution rules in typical RC frame supported masonry structure ruins and the safety problems in the emergency rescue are given. The main work of this paper is as follows:1. Through the literature research and the actual earthquake damage analysis, a comprehensive understanding about the failure mode and collapsed structure characteristics of the RC frame supported masonry structures are obtained. The understanding between the RC frame supported masonry structures failure mode and the inter story stiffness ratio is more deeply.2. Two different inter story stiffness ratio RC frame supported masonry structures is made, by the set of the wing walls making the story stiffness different. By seismic shaking table test, this paper compared dynamic characteristics and seismic response in different destruction stage of the two models, and focused on their failure modes and the collapse processes of the two models.3. Two test models were simulated by the ANSYS. This paper well considered the failure and contact problems. The results prove the reasonability of the finite element analysis results, and also prove the reasonability of the experimental results.4. The possible position of the survival space is discussed by the detail observation and study of the experiment ruins model’s and the actual ruins’ structural characteristics. The earthquake rescue strategies and principles that should be followed in the rescue are summarized.
