Making use of low heating value fuel rational can relieve energy and environmental crisis. It also has a far-reaching effect on the development of the green economy. The porous media combustion technology which studied in this paper has natural advantage in utilizing low heating value fuel. The area of porous media reinforces the self-regenerative capacity and the radiant heat transfer ability of the burner, can preheat fuel and improve the stability of flame effectively, and make the distribution of temperature more evenly. The porous media burner has a low lean-burn extinction limit, which can take better advantage of low heating value fuel and reduce the emission of harmful gas effectively.There is an arranging innovation of the porous media area in this paper: using the mode of two stages, the second stage is made up of two kinds of porous media materials with different parameters. The first stage is used for balancing the combustion parameters. And the second is used for adjusting the outlet parameters.In the process of numerical simulation, this paper mainly considered four factors as variables to study the combustion condition in the whole porous media burner. The factors are different length of the first stage of porous media, different combination of the second stage, different intensity of combustion and different hybrid manner. The following conclusions are obtained by comparative analysis of the numerical simulation results. Firstly, with the increasing length of the first stage of porous media,the overall parameters are well-distributed. Secondly, the parameters distributions of the second stage have a direct relationship with the pore density of porous media. In the same porosity, with the bigger pore density, the relative superficial area turns big and the flow resistance of the gas turns great. It results in reduced velocity and increased pressure loss in the area of big pore density. Thirdly, with the increased air inflow, the velocity and temperature distribution turns uneven, and pressure loss turns great. Fourthly, the different manners of air inflow have effect on the combustion parameters. The concrete laws need further verification by experiments.The burner with adjustable combustion parameters is another idea in this paper.After modularized processing of the porous media, the three areas can be set with different parameters to adjust the outlet parameters by changing the air inflow. It can widen application fields of the porous media burner.
