With the accelerating development of urbanization in China, the demand for spiritual and cultural aspects have also gradually improved with the rising of people’s living standards. Recreational environment with beautiful landscape and various activities has become a great pursuit of humans. In recent years, theme parks, a new type of recreational products, have become the first choice for travel. Based on establishing a database of elements extracting from existing theme parks, the research selects typical cases to summarize their space type characteristics and invest visitors’ subjective evaluation as well as behavioural characteristics. By doing this, the research summarizes the relationship between the park space and behavioural psychology in order to provide people-oriented evaluation system and optimization strategies for the development of theme parks in China.Firstly, from the perspective of linguistics, psychology and behavioural science, words about park name, subject expression and spatial composition are extracted from descriptive statements in the existing theme parks which can be found from Baidu Encyclopedia and theme parks’ websites. French-made application software is be used into ontology analysis of theme parks’ elements so as to establish the elements’ database of theme parks. Secondly, Three Kingdoms City is chosen as the typical case. Through the typological analysis of Three Kingdoms City’s layout and spatial composition features, the main types and features of Three Kingdoms City’s space have been found. Thirdly, through questionnaires the important factor analysis of theme parks’space evaluation will be analyzed to determine the main factors influencing the important evaluation of theme parks’ space. This aims to optimize and adjust the evaluation elements. Analyzing the mean and variance of satisfaction score, the research tries to grasp the satisfaction distribution of evaluation factors among tourists and its social relevance of the property in order to have a comprehensive grasp of the evaluation of tourists in Three Kingdoms City. Lastly, through the GPS walking experiments of tourists, tourists’trace and stay in different types of space can be concluded. This will be helpful to grasp the relationship between tourists’walking behavior, path selection, staying circumstances and corresponding space as well as proposing optimization strategies based on the behavior of visitors. The paper uses literature analysis, field research, questionnaires and GPS walking experiments to research the basic characteristics of the current theme parks’space and their relationship between tourists’ behaviour and psychology. The paper provides optimization strategies for the design of theme parks’space and makes recommendations and prospects for in-depth research. Research on behaviour and psychology will provide a new idea for the field of theme parks’ space planning to a certain extent. Meanwhile, the research can also be helpful for developers to create theme parks’ space that can more accurately cater to tourists’ behaviour and psychology.
