Bridge engineering hydrology design is the overall design of the bridge, for the bridge effect resistance of hydrological factors on the river. The calculation process of Bridge hydrological design is cumbersome. There are large amount of data to be processed. With the use of computer, it is necessary to develop a program to make the calculation rapid. based on the VB language, the program to calculate the bridge crossing the river or sea is introduced in this paper, with the purpose of providing a software system for design practitioners in bridge engineering. This software is mainly composed of two parts, the bridge crossing sea part and the bridge crossing river part. The bridge crossing sea part includes calculation of designing tide level, calculation of designing wave level and designing the length and altitude of the bridge. The bridge crossing river part includes input and calculation of river information, calculation of river stability, choices of bridge site, bridge layout, scour calculation of piers and abutment, buried depth of basement. According to the needs, the software can do the calculation and analysis in different ways. After the calculation of each part in the software, the designing graph for the bridge crossing substructure would be given to users. The calculation and analysis methods are based on the 《Hydrological Specifications for Survey and Design of Highway Engineering》 and frontier research performance. Through analyzing the research status of the bridge crossing, the article summary the calculation and analysis methods, based on which the structure and process of the software are designed. Designing of every part of the software is introduced in detail in the article, with two real engineering testing it to make sure the software’s program is correct and the output results of it is adequate. As a computing platform, the software can be access to other applications in connection with the database. While the designing results are ensured adequately, the software can improve work efficiency and reduce the intensity of work.
