Railway as the main artery of the national economy, plays a key role in the regional integrated transport system and the state transportation system. To meet the needs of rail rapid development, railway transport network which is a platform for public infrastructure railway information not only can be able to carry IP data communications major, telephone exchange, digital dispatching communications, integrated video surveillance, video conferencing, GSM-R mobile communications services but also carry non-communication professional dispatching, ticketing, operations, public security management, power supply, TDCS,5T, CTC, TMIS business. At present, no matter railway transport network backbone layer or the access layer are showing insufficient transmission capacity, technical limitations and other issues. Some transmission systems, due to the completion of the year earlier, use pure SDH technology and need upgrading.The main contents are as follows:(1) Compare OTN and PTN with two technologies currently used in a large number of railway network MSTP, SDH technology, and analyze the advantages of the various technologies comprehensively and carefully.(2) according to the Twelfth Five-year railway communication network plan, railway OTN backbone network construction and renovation projects already underway. The new five rings are used at full capacity40-channel, single-channel10Gb/s or100Gb/s hybrid transmission rate of OTN technology. This paper make a thorough study and give some recommendations on the network protection coordination, security and other issues.(3) PTN+OTN joint networking is a very suitable railway communication network networking, with a clear technological advantage, according to the two different technical characteristics, have different positioning in the network. The paper gives several PTN network model and analyze the PTN+OTN joint networking clock synchronization problem, and finally give several joint networking for the future business needs, which is the main focus of the article.
