In the city, when there is building excavation, the excavation will cause deformation in the surrounding buildings. The foundation pit is dug in a way that will ensure that the foundation pit support structure meets the requirements, but also to ensure that neighboring buildings of the deformation meet the requirements. This paper will discuss the background of engineering examples, using finite element software to simulate the excavation deformation effects on buildings analyzed the deformation law during the excavation of the foundation pit enclosure, and analyzes the excavation process of building differential sedimentation and lateral variations. Use the finite element software to calculate the differential settlement of the internal forces in the changes of the building. The main contents are as follows:1. Use the finite element software MIDAS/GTS to set up a digital three-dimensional model, analyzing the deformation laws of horizontal deformation in the middle and small ends used in foundation pit excavation. The analysis of the foundation enclosure wall spatial effects shows that the foundation enclosure wall’s horizontal deformation has an effect on the building’s corners.2. Research on the influence of foundation enclosure walls of different thickness and concrete retainer walls varying in levels of strength on retaining wall’s horizontal deformation. The result show that by increasing the strength of concrete retainer walls and the thickness of the foundation enclosure walls, the concrete retaining wall’s horizontal deformation can be reduced.3. Analyze the impact of building differential settlement and horizontal displacement of foundation pit excavation. This paper will research the enclosure walls’ different level of thickness, concrete retainer walls various levels of strength, loading between foundation and building, distance between foundation and building and building settlement conditions such as horizontal displacement changes. With the increase in the foundation enclosure wall’s thickness and the strength of concrete retainer wall, the sedimentation value and lateral displacement of the building will decrease. When loading between the foundation and the building, the building settlement value will increase significantly, along with an increasing in distance between the building and the foundation, the building settlement value will decrease. When the distance between the building and the foundation reaches the limit value, the excavation of the foundation no longer has an effect on the settlement of buildings. Finite element program MIDAS/GEN is used to calculate the internal forces of buildings before and after excavation.
