Automobile generator claw pole is a key part in the generator. Generator claw pole appears in pairs and bites in to a whole. With the rotation of the engine it became a major part of formation of magnetic field. The generator output power depends on the claw pole quality and claw pole shape design. It got a complex shape, a difficult forming process and a large forming load. Forming method application of new technology, improving the utilization rate of material, reducing production cost, high quality of claw pole, are the production of new challenges of claw pole.The main production of claw pole was forging, according to the forging die the forming could be divided into open die forging, closed die forging; according to the forming temperature the forming could be divided into old forging, warm forging and hot forging; according to the extrusion mode the forming could be divided into direct extrusion, opposite extrusion and bidirectional extrusion forming. Over the years, domestic and foreign experts and scholars on the claw pole production technology has done a lot of research and exploration. Claw pole experienced precision casting, sheet metal stamping to the open die forgings, cold extrusion forming, and then to the closed forging, warm and cold precision forming stage of development. These methods had their advantages and disadvantages, but provide valuable experience for the further research and development.In this paper, based on the existing process, combined with the special locking mechanism of the die, the advanced floating die closed extrusion forming process of warm forging precision forming was applied into the claw pole production. Using 3D software for metal blank and die modeling and finite element software for numerical simulation of forming process, the forming temperature, extrusion speed, forming load and metal flow velocity and the friction factor was analyzed. The Claw pole had a low forming force, the uniformity metal flow, good surface quality and high dimensional precision. According to the similarity theory, a set of simple mold was designed to verification test of the process by lead. The results verify the feasibility of the process used to claw pole production and correct, the floating die closed extrusion technology has a certain reference and guiding significance in practical application of claw pole parts in production.
