Hardware product design defects can be formed in the entire process of product design cycle, any improper handling in the design stage may cause different quality effects on the product, resulting in product design defect. Process planning stage of the development process is a critical stage which connects the design and manufacture. Improper design could lead to process design defect, and then give rise to manufacturing defects. Based on process management, this article gives a systematic analysis of the relationship between the process design defects of hardware product and defect factors both in qualitative and quantitative aspect, and then put forward the control strategy of product process design flaws.Firstly, we define the process planning defects for the hardware product, then analyze and summarize the main design activities and contents of product design process. The forming mechanism of the process design defects is analyzed from the whole process design process. Next, the main process design activities broken down into basic sub-activity. Applying process six elements method to analyze defect factors of each activity and the structure relationship model of the defects in the process design activity is established. Then using FMEA thought combined with the six elements of process design method to identify defect risk. Based on original rating of S(Severity), O(Occurrence), D(Detection), giving the process design flaws activity rating scale, making the process design defects activity S, O, D score more reasonable. On the basis of reconsidering relevance influence of the process planning defect activities may exist, given the more relevant objective event process planning defect quantitative assessment methods. On this basis, using DEMATEL method analysis the size of the quantitative influence of process defects activity factors.Besides, the hardware product process planning defect control architecture from process planning is established, and the control activities and content of the process design activities are analyzed. Combined with the six elements method, the defects control measures of the hardware product design are given. Finally, the feasibility and scientificity of the method are verified by the example of a certain type of aircraftengine assembly process design.In the paper, the structural model of the defects factor in the design process of the hardware product design process is analyzed in the view of design process.Achieved a qualitative and quantitative research and defect risk assessment for process planning activities and defect factors based FMEA techniques and DEMATEL methods. Determining the critical defect activity and influencing factors in process planning can provide evidence for preventing and controlling the process planning defects.
