In order to agreeing with the actual demand of waterjet propulsion, an omnidirectional rotation waterjet axial-flow pump was developed with large thrust, easy to assemblies and good maneuverability, through research on the key technologies, such as design proposal, hydraulic design, numerical simulation analysis of the flow field are studied. The results of bench scale test and prototype testing show that the performance parameters of the waterjet propulsion have met the design requirement, which will be helpful as a reference to the design and engineering application for the similar products.There are six chapters in the paper. The first chapter sets forth the background and significance of the research, sums up actuality of waterjet propulsion technology in the world, then determines the main contents of this article and research schedule; Chapter two introduces multi-general projects of waterjet’s operation principle, analyzes their characteristics, determines the main scheme based on the requirements and principle of designing, then figures out the main performance parameters of the waterjet, such as head, flow, rotation rate; Chapter three carries out hydraulic design of waterjet propulsion, then achieves the parameter of the impeller and stator. Chapter four develops the numerical simulation and analysis of fluid flow in inlet of the waterjet propulsion, predicts the performances of the waterjet propulsion with CFD, provides date evidence for the improvement of the waterjet propulsion and test validation; Chapter five manufactures a prototype and tests on it, analyzes the measuring data, verifies the effect of present work; In Chapter six, the paper is summarized, and the outlook of future research work is expected.
