As blades get larger and longer, the issue of blade vibrations has been paid more attention by researchers. In this thesis, we design a robust controller to deal with the vibration problem of flexible blades.Firstly, we review the mathematical model of flexible blades for the vibration problem. We then follow an assumed model method to get a reduced order model by truncating a related series. Finally we use an existing minimax LQG control method to solve an edgewise vibration problem of flexible blades by using the reduced model. The control system is simulated and the results show that the minimax LQG controller indeed attenuates the edgewise vibration of flexible blades under considerations.
