This paper introduces the application of electromagnetic calculation software Electro on a converter transformer in a ±500kV、3000MVA HVDC transmission project, core structure of the transformer is a one-phase four limbs three frame, is obtained by analyzing the distribution of electric field and the stray capacitance of the transformer’s valve winding. In order to verify the accuracy of the calculation results, establish scale model of this transformer, and obtain the equivalent calculation on stray capacitance of the transformer’s valve winding. On the same scale model, simulation model is established and the obtaining results are compared with calculated results, to determine the feasibility of engineering application and the accuracy of calculation. And the modeling and simulation provides verified data of experience and experimental of numerical analysis.
