With the rapid development of thermal power technology, the grid load proposes higher and higher demand for the rapid response ability of a large capacity unit. As the core part of the automatic control system, coordinated control system(CCS) plays a crucial role for the security, stability and economic operation of the unit. At the same time, as a connecting link between power grid and power plant, machine and furnace, CCS both to ensure rapid response for the load changes and stability of the unit.The Automatic Generation Control(AGC) proposes higher requirements for a unit’s load response ability. And the unstable coal quality and imperfect control strategy make the main steam pressure and temperature unstable, and the response speed and accuracy of unit load difficult to control.In this paper, the original control strategy for CCS of a power plant # 3 unit(600 mw) was analyzed. And based on an external optimization station, the optimization design for CCS was made. First, The object properties of CCS was studied. Then the model of object used for identification and simulation was given. Base on the particle swarm optimization algorithm(PSO), the model parameters identification were made and the effectiveness of the proposed identification method was verified. Secondly, the control strategy for CCS of the #3 unit was analyzed. Through the investigation and analysis, the problems in the system were summarized. Thirdly, the external optimization station developed cooperatively was tested comprehensively. And some revision suggestions according to the test results were made to ensure the optimization station could work normally. Last, based on the external optimization station, the optimization design for CCS was carried out, and the simulation test for "optimization station- model machine" was performed. The results show that the optimization control logic and strategy were reasonable and feasible, and the control effect is well. Lay a solid foundation for the on-site commissioning test.
