The phenomenon that abundant coal resources and lack of water resources in northwest China, greatly limits the development of thermal power plants. Under this background, the air cooling technology in the construction of thermal power unit in this area shows great development prospects. For air cooling power plant, study on the control and operation characteristics of air cooling system has the vital significance to improve the operation economy of the air cooling units.This article is aimed at indirect air cooling system in Guodian Karamay cogeneration units, combined with the professional practice in the plant and debugging and commissioning of the actual work done. This paper analyzes the principle and the advantages and disadvantages of different indirect air cooling systems. On this basis, it analyzes the equipment composition and operation principle on indirect cooling system in Karamay power plant, especially analyzes the control logic in the mechanical ventilation air cooling tower in detail. This paper analyzes the influence factors to the unit back pressure by means of model, then the characteristics of the mechanical ventilation indirect air cooling system are analyzed by combining with field operation data. Finally, this paper tries to use artificial neural network method to build the mathematical model of the back pressure and load, environmental temperature, fan speed,et al, which lays the foundation of mechanical ventilation indirect air cooling system operation optimization.
