Superplasticizer was a focal point of concrete superplasticizer research topics, was also the best prospects for the future development of superplasticizer. Superplasticizer macromonomer whose properties determined the result of superplasticizer was the main raw material which synthesized the superplasticizer. So the property of superplasticizer macromonomer was studied in this paper. The double bonds were analyzed by the chemical method. The composition analysis and PEG constant of the macro monomer were studied by the instrument method.A method of iodometry which can be used to study the double bonds of the super plasticizer macro monomer was researched. The added solvent, the amount of bromate –bromide and the reaction time which would affect the result of reaction were discussed.The result showed that different experimental conditions had different results. The suitable operating condition was determined via experiment. The relative standard deviation was less than 1.5%, the recoveries of samples were between 95.5% to 99.5%. The raw material of the method was readily available. The method was simple, rapid, and with good reproducibility.A method of HPLC was proposed which can be used to in determination of the content of PEG in the super plasticizer macro monomer. The results showed that at the selection condition, the PEG content of sample can be well separated. The standard samples of PEG had a good linear relationship between peak area and concentration. The content of PEG was analyzed through the external standard method. The relative standard deviation(RSD) was not more than 6.5%. The recoveries of samples were 93% ~ 104%.The method was simple, rapid, and with good reproducibility, was also suitable for detection of the PEG content in the super plasticizer macro monomer.A method of Liquid Chromatography- electro spray aerosol detector(HLPC-CAD)was set up which analyzed the component of super plasticizer macro monomer. The macro monomer(belonging to fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether) was separated according to number of EO. Agilent ZORBAX SB-C8 column was used as stationary phase. methanol and water were used as mobile phase. The gradient elution was used. 65% methanolincreased to 70% linearly in 60 minutes. The CAD was used as detector. Under the selected chromatographic condition, the components of sample had a good separation.
