Vehicle detection and tracking of the traffic environment are two important parts in intelligent transportation system. They are the key to the implementation of intelligent traffic system. Vehicle detection and tracking determines the quality of the whole intelligent transportation system. Vehicle detection of traditional existence of detection speed are not fast enough and the result is not accurate enough and other problems. However the vehicle tracking is very difficult to balance the real-time and accuracy.In view of the above problems. This article has done the optimization and adjustment in the various aspects of the vehicle detection and tracking in the traffic environment. In the end we got a good detection results, tracking robust vehicle detection and tracking system and real-time processing system in general.This article mainly from the following several aspects to optimize this system.In vehicle detection, we used the haar feature detection classifier based on the adaboost, We train the classifier using the special characteristic of the haar. In order to improve the running time of the whole system and the detection accuracy. At first. we pick up the moving target in image sequence, got the moving objects and the detection moving target got the vehicle target. Second we put the motion of the vehicle divided into eight directions. And classification of training the every direction. To judge the direction of flow and using the direction to select the corresponding classifier.In the vehicle tracking. We using the particle filtering tracking based detection. Aiming at the existing troubles in the particle filter of tracking. We from three aspects to optimization this troubles. Firstly, using linear fitting in mathematics to deal with the tracking object occlusion problem. Secondly, make full use of the detect results to the processing of target tracking problem of the inaccurate. Finally, we use of multithreading to enhance the whole racking speed.For the entire vehicle detection and tracking system. This article from the theoretical analysis to the practice operation, Finally,the formation of a vehicle detection and tracking system. And through the experiment we test the performance of each module of the system. We has made its own contribution to the intelligent traffic system.
