According to the above, the dissertation explored the topic of urban planning values in contemporary China, aiming to fill the blankness of relevant researches and give a comprehensive and visualized overview about the evolution of the urban planning values in nowadays China. The dissertation externalized a metaphysical content of human spirit, which has a lot of interaction with human behavior, in order to optimize the evolution of urban planning values and urban planning practice at the same time.Based on studying the research methods of philosophy\history\sociology\psychology\culturology\ linguistics, the dissertation created a new set of methods of researching urban planning values, which focused on urban planning text. In the new set of research methods, the Urban Planning Values was divided into 5 classes, which were Political Values, Economic Values, Social Values, Cultural Values and Ecological Values. Applying the specific methods of text analysis, the dissertation interpreted both the internal and external composition of every kind of values, including its orientation, goals and nexus. After that, the evolution of urban planning values could be presented by comparing the composition of values in different times. The ultimate conclusion was drawn from the basic conclusion of values in Nanjing master planning, and went further in the development of urban planning values.By the whole process of researching, the dissertation held the opinion below:the urban planning values in contemporary China are based on reality and demand, growing into equalization and integration by degrees. The orientation and goals of values have both advanced with the times. In the future, the urban planning values of China should make full use of participation and propaganda to improve itself in appropriate legal guarantee, in order to become a system of scientific amenable values which perfectly meets the need of times.
