There are lofty mountains and steep hills in Qinba Mountains with the geological structure very complicated. The inducing factors of slope hazards of road in Qinba mountain area is very complex, the rainfall is frequent, annual July to September is the rainy season of Qinba Mountains, the seasonal rainfall and longer duration is the high incidence of geological disasters, geological disasters in Qinba Mountains is collapse, landslide, debris flow. Slope disaster caused by road congestion, and threat the people’s life and property security, therefore, study on the mechanism of slope disaster in Qinba Mountains road is very necessary.First, in this paper, investigate and preliminary study the slope, waste dumpsite, culvert which has the hidden danger in Shitian highway the range of 151 km in Western Hanzhong. Focus on the survey of 37 hazards, including landslides, rockfall, debris flow, collapse, debris field hazard, culverts damaged etc. The research mainly includes the accumulation zone of the soil abandon dross field, abandon dross processing measures, slope geometry and geomorphology, geological conditions of slope(stratigraphic lithology, structural plane occurrence and characteristics, etc.) and channel conditions, etc. Investigation by looking at data, field survey, construction units to fill in questionnaires and other forms, will be for different hazard points and general situation of the basic blocks, find out the existence of hidden trouble, making the initial conclusion for if it is prone to disasters and what disaster prone to, and put forward the corresponding improvement Suggestions, to carry on the design optimization. Through the investigation and Research on site conditions, combined with the environment and climate characteristics of Qinba mountains area, study the disaster mechanism of slope disaster.Secondly, through the Shitian highway slope disaster investigation, based on different soil type forming conditions,to determine the main types of slope disasters :diluvial layer landslides, accumulation slump, expansive soil landslide, eluvial landslide, rock slope collapse, rock slope landslide, etc. Through the scene investigation and research, combined with environmental and climatic characteristics of the Qinba Mountain, study the mechanism of slope disaster.Finally, through the analysis of disaster inducing factors are: the topography characteristic, the effect of rainfall and groundwater, human engineering activities and disaster mechanism, and gives the appropriate design and construction proposal.Based on the road slope disaster survey in Shitian highway of western Hanzhong, combined with on-site investigation and the Qinba Mountain geological, climatic conditions, to classify the type of slope disasters, analyze and summarize the disaster mechanism and causal factors, and the corresponding countermeasures for the disposal of different types of disasters.
