Study On Promotion Of LNG-powered Ships Based On Energy –saving And Emission Reduction

Climate change has become the most limited and necessary factor both at home and abroad while working out the economic policy. Countries in the world are looking for a cleaner energy to achieve the targets of energy-saving, as well as the goal of balancing the development and environmental protection. Compared with the coal, oil and other traditional conventional fuel, liquefied natural gas(LNG) produces much less carbon dioxide(CO2), sulfur oxides(SOX), nitrogen oxide(NOX) and particulate(PM). As a new clean energy, the LNG makes up large percentage in the world energy consumption. At the same time, this new kind of energy has gained popularity in more and more fields of industries.In order to guarantee the green development of shipping industry, the International Maritime Organization(IMO) established a series of requirements concerning the ship energy conservation and environmental protection. When planning the policies in regard to energy saving, our government put forward the development policy of LNG ship power, and conduct effective and positive explorations. Development of LNG ship power has a bright prospect, which plays an important part in energy saving and emission reduction. Based on the above background, this thesis analyzes the popularization and application of LNG powered ships.First of all, by studying the relevant characteristics of LNG fuel, some energy-saving measures are listed. Further analysis has been carried out, which is connected with the economic, technological, environmental and safety aspects of the feasibility of LNG. Secondly, by comparing the development of LNG at home and abroad, we show the main problems existing in current Chinese LNG ship power development. Besides, the supply and risk prevention of LNG fuel are studied. Of course, solutions to these problems have been put forward. Finally, we think a lot about the improvement of facilities and try to make standard rules. With the support and encouragement of government, we may improve the level of scientific research. In addition, overall suggestions are supposed about promotion of LNG ship. It’s of great significance to take positive and effective measures to promote the LNG powered ships, so as to perform the LNG clean energy development policy. What’s more, to effectively ensure the smooth development in our country, we should spare no effort to solve the existing problems and shortcomings in LNG promotion, which plays an valuable role in the shipping industry energy saving and emission reduction.
