| Along with the rapid development of national economy, a national highway system is continuously improved. A great amount of high-ranked national highway can be seen being built everywhere in our country. Especially those in the mountain areas, they have attracted extra and abundant attentions by the geological workers. A variety of geologic problems such as karst, landslide, goaf, collapsible loess have been inevitably encountered in the process of route selection, survey and construction. Those problems can not only have a negative effect on the stability of the site, but also on the safety, economy and usage of the foundations, slope projects, railways and roads. Every year, the unidentified geologic problems and improper handling ones have caused a lot of traffic accident in different degrees and casualties, which add up to billions of dollars in losses. The Tai yuan--Jia County line is located on the fourth horizontal line of Shanxi highway system which has nine horizontal line and circle lines in total forming a skeleton in the shape of a Chinese character “人â€. Connecting to Shanxi, Gansu, and Ningxia Province in the west, and linking the capital city of Beijing, Tianjing, and Hebei Province, this line has become a strategic passage in the west part of Shanxi. It has greatly improved the transportation in the underdeveloped areas and optimized the traffic capacity of the whole national defense transportation network, which will benefit the economy development and tourist exploitation in the central and western regions in Shanxi Province. This academic paper will focus on the central and western regions in Shanxi Province, extending in the latitudinal direction, traversing the middle and central Luliang Mountain. The reason is that the geologic problems are serious in the district due to the complicate geological conditions, large terrain variation, and complex landform. The text will analyze the problems in detail to come up with some constructive preventing proposals which will have profound guiding significance for the route selection and problem handlings in the Loess Plateau or wherever with the similar geological conditions. This text first analyzes the geologic conditions including topography, meteorological and hydrology, formation lithology, hydrogeology, structure and regional stability by data-collecting and field investigation in the earlier stage and experiments in the laboratory. It then classifies the types and characteristics of the geologic problems. Thirdly, it elaborates and evaluates the development characteristics of the typical landslides in the study area by adopting the limited software MIDAS-GTS.Finally, the text puts forward some proposals and practical measures on the geologic problems which consist with the environment and stability evaluation of this region by referring to the handling practice at home or abroad. |
