The traditional Buckling Restrained Braces’(BRB) constraining elements always use square filled with concrete. This constraining elements make are consuming time,and the mass is huge. Based on the tradition BRB innovate a series all-steel Buckling Restrained Braces. But this all-steel BRB’s constraining elements are fully enclosed the plate. It is hard to control manufacturing quality or to detect and any change of internal components during earthquakes from the appearance. The length of the dissipation section can adjust the timing of bucking in the structure. The change of the dissipation section’s length will effect on the strength of the BRB or not. This paper based on the predecessors’ study, about above problems are researching. The main content research are as follows:(1) This research proposed a new BRB with a flat steel core plate. And at the same time at theweak and strong axes of the constraining elements set the inspection windows. This study investigated a series of BRB with inspection windows’ shapes, sizes and positions.Through the experiment,analyzed and compared the result(2) About the length of rigid section and energy dissipation section, compared and analyzed the different section effect on the strength of the BRB. At the strong axes have two different style, one is with lateral support element other is without lateral support element.Through the experiment,analyzed and compared the lateral support element effect on the trength of the BRB.(3) Based on the incremental Wen’model, the model simulating all type of BRB. Analyzed and compared the experiment and the simulation, the result show that the incremental Wen’model can Accurate the nonlinear behavior of BRB.According to the experiment this study innovated new type BRB is conform to the regulations and shows good energy dissipation capacity.
