Shape memory alloy damper(SMA damper)is a damping control device which develops in recent years, this device can effectively reduce the response of the structure under seismic action and make the structure to obtain good shock absorption performance. Cable-stayed bridge which uses half floating system allows bridge structure to produce displacement in longitudinal direction, this characteristic is advantageous to the structural vibration damping, but can causes a larger displacement, so it needs to install damping control devices in the cable-stayed bridge. In this paper a cable-stayed bridge as the project background, uses the large finite element software ANSYS to analyse the earthquake response of the key parts of the cable-stayed bridge under the different seismic waves,installation of SMA damper for cable-stayed bridge improves the degree of seismic response and different conditions of SMA dampers affect the damping performance of cable-stayed bridge. This paper mainly contains the following contents:(1)Studying the mechanical properties of shape memory alloy materials、constitutive relation, provides the basis for the simulation of finite element software.(2)This paper studys the structure of the dynamic calculation method, through comparative study to choose analysis method for seismic response analysis.(3)This paper presents the methods of establishing cable-stayed bridge model and the principle of selecting seismic wave, compares the earthquake response of the key parts of the cable-stayed bridge under the different seismic waves. Comparing before and after cable-stayed bridge of SMA damper installation seismic response of the key parts.(4)Comparising the three cases that SMA damper which installed in different quantity, different position and different parameters will influence the damper on damping performance of cable-stayed bridge.The results show that: under the different seismic waves cable-stayed bridge seismic response of the key positions can make a big difference;under the action of earthquake SMA damper can significantly reduce the displacement of the beam,the displacement of the main tower and the bending moment of the main tower bottom; cable-stayed bridge with different quantity, different installation position and different equivalent stiffness of the SMA damper will affect the damping performance of the structure.
