Fabricated prestressed concrete box girder bridges is the main highway in our country, it is widely used. In recent years, with earthquakes occur frequently, piers subjected to seismic forces as a direct effect of the main load-bearing components, whose seismic performance is particularly important. So this paper does a study of continuous prestressed concrete box pier seismic calculation in the high intensity zone.The highway project of Shiyan to Tianshui(Gansu section) as the background, Apply Midas2010 finite element analysis software to build the entire bridge model of Jia Jia Shan Yang River Bridge in the second(4 * 20m) and Xiakou bridge the tenth(3* 30 m) bridge, and take the highway bridge pier seismic design and pier seismic reinforcement are discussed in this paper. For comparison analysis, Calculation condition include "common pot bearing bridge" seismic dynamic analysis, "ordinary plate bearing bridge" seismic dynamic analysis and "HDR isolators bridge" seismic dynamic analysis, considering the experience of domestic and international seismic fortification and the calculation and analysis of the dynamic characteristics of pier in detail referring to current codes. The HDR base plate was used for the plastic state of the bridge pier under the E2 earthquake, and the rubber bearing of the base plate was more common, meanwhile, the horizontal and shear design values of the plastic hinge region and the displacement values of the top of the pier are obviously decreased, And only in the condition of the HDR isolated bearing can meet the stress and displacement requirements. Therefore, the high intensity area freeway bridge piers reinforced by structural requirements and construction technology restrictions, should adopt the isolation bearings, taking reasonable arrangement piers reinforced mechanical characteristics according to the pier itself. In short, not only the research results obtained in this paper successfully applied in Shiyan to Tianshui highway project but also provide a reference for the seismic design of prestressed concrete box girder bridge piers.
