In the age of the Internet, how to make a better remote interactive experience between the client and product designers during the product design process has become an important developing direction of design companies.Currently, most design companies have troubles such as slow design process, low efficiency and accuracy on design information transmission. In product design process, the common solution of product edit modules is selection and adjustment of specific parameters, or directly displays geometric models of products through a graphics plug-in, which customers can tag or view. Such interactive editing system is too simple for remote clients. There was neither customers and designers communication platform, nor real-time modifying and adjusting on design drafts.On the other hand, in virtual products display process, most of the companies only focus on showing the products themselves and simple interaction like rotate or zoom, ignoring exhibiting and comparing the products in different sales scenes.This thesis aims to establish a system of interactive design of packaging products with more co-operating with remote clients. A design draft editing module and a virtual display module are well architected to deliver effective information between customers and designers. The detail problems appear during the design process could be solved as soon as possible, and then the overall efficiency of the design process is improved.This thesis also lists previous related intercalative patterns and analyzes their disadvantages, and then the overall system architecture and module functions of a product package design system are designed and developed, supporting remote customer interaction.The main work and contributions of the thesis are as following:(1) Design the architecture of an interactive product packaging design system. The system consists of four modules, a client product packaging sketch editing module, a single product packaging virtual display module, a user management module and a database module.(2) Design and implement the client product packaging sketch editing module. This module is designed for three main interactive features: Customer demand with sketch work area; Customer sketch modify work area and Designer sketches workspace. To achieve this function, two solutions are listed; one is based on IPLAB image processing software SDK and another one is systems based on c # class library. Through comparative testing, the second option is ultimately adopted.(3) Design and implement the product packaging virtual display module. Taking alcohol products as an example, three-dimensional wine bottle and its packaging is modeled with 3Dmax, and then imported to Unity3 D. Material and Unit of the model could be modified by designer or client, and then the virtual exhibition scene could be set interactively to simulating products in different selling scene for comparison. One can also timely adjust product materials, logo and colors.(4) Through cases of a packaging design company Ya, different tests are taken to verify the effectiveness of the remote interaction supporting packaging products design system, and the testing results show that the system is obvious helpful in actual business application. The interaction efficiency between the client and the designer is improved, and the number of remote clients could be increased significantly. Meanwhile, this study will make a significant contribution to remote client interactive design.
