Superelastic shape memory alloy possess unique properties of shape memory effect and superelasticity, acquires strong displacement-restoring capacity to dissipate most of external forces, and good anti-corrosion and anti-fatigue capacity as well, which is the ideal material for structural vibration control. Based on those special properties and the enormous potential in practical application of SMA materials, this study developed a series of researches and experiments on Ni-Ti SM A material mechanical test,hysteresis model, and new SM A damper. Main content of this paper can be shown as fellow.(1) Detail introductions of the basic characteristic of the SMA material, and the application and research status of the SMA. Tests and experiments on super-elastic SMA wire, to explore the influences of different wire diameter, cycles, strain amplitude,pre-stressing degree, and other constraints in respect of SMA hysteresis curve and its mechanical parameters. Ultimately to analyze the mechanical properties of SMA and the changing law.(2) Introductions and comparisons of various typical SMA constitutive model,analysis of their pros and corns. By merging the sinh function, an mechanical model of SMA hysteresis parameters was promoted, together with the intelligent identification of Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO), in order to compare the results of test with the theoretical value, to verify its accuracy and applicability.(3) Promotion of a new Displacement Rotational Amplification SMA damper with its design criteria, structure and influence on structure parameters by amplification. The damper is mainly composed of ball screw device and SMA wire, which not only can dissipate energy but also reset automatically, which is adaptive to any domains of engineering, and takes the full advantages of SMA.
