With the environmental problem becoming more and more serious, the fuel pollution has been paid more and more attention to. Most of ships use diesel to generate power, which leads to the air pollution around the port becoming increasingly serious. In addition, with the development of foreign trade, more and more foreign merchant ships operate in our ports. Most foreign ships use 450VAC/60 Hz, but the standard of China’s electric power industry is 380VAC/50 Hz. Although the traditional diesel generator can produce 450VAC/60 Hz, it has lots of disadvantages such as causing noise and air pollution, low efficiency etc.The diesel generator is no longer needed in the low voltage shore power supply used on shipping which is mentioned in this paper. The AC-DC-AC power electronic transformation technology is used to transfer 380VAC/50 Hz to 450VAC/60 Hz directly, so that ships can get power from the ports which have different power system. Some critical problems about SPS met in the design progress are discussed in this article.First of all, according to the analysis of SPS’s composition and working principle, uncontrolled rectifier, diode-clamped three-level inverter and LC-filter are adopted as the AC-DC-AC topology structure of SPS in this paper.In addition, critical problems in the implementation process of SPS have been analyzed in detail, which consist of the design of LC filter, the realization of SVPWM, the control of neutral-point unbalance, the design of control loop and the corresponding software design etc.Lastly, based on the theoretical analysis, a MATLAB simulation model and the corresponding experiment platform based on TMS320F2812 have been set up. According to the analysis of simulation and experimental research, something is shown that the technical schemes provided in this article to realize SPS are feasible. And some theoretical basis and practical experiment for the development of high-power SPS are provided.
