As the wire rope is the core component in the elevator, its state is crucial to the safe operation of the elevator. At present, the detection method of the elevator wire rope is mainly manual detection, and the equipment detection is assistant. But the efficiency of manual detection is very low, and the internal damage of the wire rope can not be found, and the labor intensity is greatly. It is hard to continuously detect the wire rope in a long time. Most detection equipments of the wire rope which are used in the market is still not mature, and their function is still in the exploration stage of testing, and the effect of market application is not ideal. In this paper, a practical damage positioning system of the elevator wire rope is designed, and which is based on magnetic detection principle. The main work is as follows:Firstly, it introduces the basic knowledge of the wire rope and expounds the excitation principle of wire rope and describes the main method of magnetic detection principle and the constitution of the damage localization system.Secondly, the theoretical calculation of magnetic circuit of the excitation device is based on magnetic principle, and the main parameters is analyzed in detail. The structure design can realize the function of each part of the excitation device. Then, it proceeds a closer discussion about the design of fluxgate sensor, and the fluxgate sensor can complete collecting leakage magnetic signal around the wire rope. Better design is done with finite element analysis. Finally, it introduces the data processing and conversion device and software design.Field test shows that, the damage location system can detect the value and position of the wire rope damage, and it can provide reliable reference data for the safe operation of wire rope.
