The in-vehicle information system(IVI) is one of the most important parts of modern vehicle electric technology. It is a system that mainly achieves the function of information collection, communication, display and storage. As the continuous development of modern vehicle electric technology, the kind and function of vehicle electronic instruments are increased. And the IVI, which is consists of bus and vehicle electrical control unit, was becoming more refined and has a trend towards intelligentize and networking. Thus core technology such as bus communication protocol is fatal for its development. This paper is dedicated to the research and design of IVI, and did a further discussion to the design and achieve of FlexRay bus communication module. Then implement the bus communication of the IVI.At first, the background of IVI and new generation of vehicle bus technology(Flex Ray) were discussed, and argued the significance of bus communication to IVI from the aspect of bus development. Then, the hardware and software of communication module was designed based on the deeply analysis of Flex Ray bus protocol. For the hardware design, the high performance microcontroller MC9S12XF512 was selected as the control core for FlexRay communication. And the modular programming idea, which enhanced the flexibility and portability of the program, was adopted during the software design. Development tool Network Designer and CANoe.Flex Ray were applied to configure the parameter, build and analysis the simulation model. At last, based on the static and dynamic scheduling algorithm, the real-time algorithm was analyzed aiming at the problem of the communication delay. In this paper, the design scheme can meet the design requirements and achieved the expected goal. It provides a theoretical basis and reference value to the research of communication and protocol in the IVI.
